Why does our Collagen contain Magnesium?

We add Magnesium because it is a mineral with a fundamental role in the formation of proteins, including Collagen, which accounts for 38% of the body's proteins, forming part of bones, ligaments, muscles, cartilage, skin... With this additional contribution of Magnesium we seek to promote the formation of new collagen, which will help us to the desired regeneration of body tissues, the normal functioning of muscles and the maintenance of bones in normal conditions.

Why take Collagen with Magnesium with Vitamin C?

Because Vitamin C is a reducer that intervenes very directly in the formation of proteins, including Collagen. Vitamin C contributes to the normal formation of Collagen for the normal functioning of cartilage, blood vessels, bones, gums, skin and teeth.

What is the difference between the tablets of Collagen with Magnesium from amlsport® and Ana Maria Lajusticia®?

There is no difference between the two products. The composition of the tablet is exactly the same, they only differ in the size of the container.

What is the origin of Collagen?

It comes from the skin and/or bones of the pig or cow, depending on the case (This type of native Collagen is type I and II).
This native Collagen undergoes the hydrolyzation process: it is a natural (non-chemical) process that consists of gelatinization by cooking with steam, followed by enzymatic hydrolysis, and which has 2 main objectives:
  1. “pre-digest” the Collagen: Hydrolyzation breaks the complex chains that form the Collagen protein and, as a result, small peptides are obtained that easily cross the intestinal barrier and their bioavailability is much higher. If Collagen were not previously hydrolyzed, our body would not absorb it and we would eliminate it without taking advantage of it.
  2. Provide "food safety" to the raw material: the hydrolyzation process received specific approval from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA-Q-2004-085). Hydrolyzation is essential for collagen to be suitable for human consumption.

This last cause is the most frequent today, and the problem is solved with a balanced diet and a daily supply of 2 to 3 grams of magnesium chloride. Can there be hypermagnesemia (excess Magnesium in the body)?

No, magnesium is always absorbed in the ionic form Mg++ and the passage of magnesium through the intestinal wall into the blood is conditioned by the need for carriers, that is, transporters.
For this reason, if these "carriers" are already "occupied" by an ion (calcium, phosphorus or magnesium), no matter how much we take magnesium in large amounts orally, it will not be absorbed or reach the blood; It will remain in the intestine surrounded by water molecules that will be evacuated with the feces.

Why is Magnesium laxative?

All the Mg++ ions that do not cross the intestine to reach the blood remain inside the intestine surrounded by water molecules and are expelled with the feces. It is for this reason that there are people who notice more watery stools.
